Description
Vintage fold-out map of Kyoto and vicinity, with shopping directory.This map is bound into stiff cardboard covers and opens to 53 x 37.5 cm [21" x 13¾"].
Details include streets, railways, electric tramways, shops, factories, Buddhist temples, Shinto temples, and points of interest.
There are three insets: [1] Arashiyama & Kinkakuji; [2] Lake Biwa & Mt. Hiyei; and [3] Uji & Daigo.
On the reverse side there is a directory of "the most reliable shops and factories etc. in Kyoto."
Text is in English, and the map was published by the Miyako Hotel, compliments of the Miyako Merchants Guild, whose wares were offered for sale in the show room at the hotel.
A description of the hotel includes mention of its selection by the Japanese Government for the accommodation of H.R.H. Prince Arthur of Connaught, who visited Kyoto in 1906.
